How I Clean My Makeup Brushes

Let’s be honest nobody likes having to clean their makeup brushes! I am a true believer that good skin and skin that looks good with makeup all starts with what you out on it. So I always like to make sure my brushes are lovely and clean. This is what works for me, but it may not necessarily work for you so you can try it out but you may need to change it in regards to your skins needs.

I don’t really like to use washes just because the ones I’ve tried have kind of dried out my brushes, so I like to use an anti-bacterial wash and olive oil. Obviously the anti-bacterial is just to get rid of any bad bacteria that could be lurking around on the brushes just waiting to give me spots!! The olive oil is used to naturally moisturise the brushes so they don’t dry out and end up in all of the bristles coming apart.

I start off by pouring anti-bacterial wash and olive oil onto a clean plate, then I dip the brushes into them and swish the brush around in my hand to distribute it evenly. I like to really get in there and make sure all the makeup comes off.  Rinse the brush with lukewarm water (don’t use hot water as it will melt the glue that holds the bristles to the brush) and repeat the whole process again with the other brushes and sponges.  TIP: Make sure you hold your wet brushes facing down as the water can drip into the brush and damage it.

It’s honestly as simple as that! It normally only takes me about 20 minutes so it’s super quick.

Hope you enjoyed reading,
