Maybelline Colour Elixir Review

Maybelline Colour Elixir Review

I recently got these ( one was in my Christmas cracker ). After getting many lip product for Christmas to was a tough choice but unfortunately  it wasn't my top pick but after dinner and when everything was done I started to play my new pretty toys.

Shades
There are 12 shades I only have two, I don't think I would buy all 12, because I don't think all 12 would suit me. Plus I don't think I have seen a lip product that I feel in love with  it and all its colour to buy all of them and altough I hate to admit it I have TO many lip product and the ones I have already  don't need any competition ...for now anyway . So back to ones I do have in my collection   the  colours   Signature Scarlet  is Phenomenal and for me Petal Push is a good colour just to throw on and  not really worry about it..

First Impression
First off I think the packaging is one of the best for the high street/ drugstore I like the clear packaging and the way it is shaped like a lipstick I think is great .  In the packet Petal Push looks pale and I thought it would be to pale for my skin tone but it was great it was a very simple my lips but better colour which I haven't found many of  that I liked, I love Soap and Glory Nudist but this I think this  makes my lips look better, I don't know what it is but it makes my lips look a bit bigger in my view.

The colours I have are Petal Push  105 (left)  and Signature Scarlet 505  (right)

Longevity
With these appearing in people 2014 favorites I had high expectations  for these, at first glance i thought it would similar to a lip stain  so I expecting them to be long wear but after research it appears to be a gloss and some compare to a hybrid lip product, a liquid lipstick and gloss. The first tried it I just put them on to see the colours but the second time I wore the red (Signature Scarlet ) I wasn't very impressed the glossy finished only last 30 minutes on my lips and when I tried it the third time I had the same result stayed gloss for 30 minutes and was gone within an hour. I tried the Petal Push and the same thing happened the shine was gone in about 30 minutes maybe a tiny bit longer but not much. I then tried  Signature Scarlet 505 over a lipstick and the glossy effect lasted longer, it lasted about 2 hours which is an improvement.

here is  Petal Push on the lips

In Conclusion
I don't think I will be reaching these often, I will probably pick lip stains or over lipsticks over  these, which is is shame because I love the colours, If I could find a lip product or balm that really locks in lip gloss/ lip products I would use these but they really didn't last long and I don' t really want to apply lip product every half an / hour its not convenient for me and if other products are going to stay on lips longer then  what is the point!

Thank You for reading !

  2. Thank you for sharing this, I was about to get these on the store but I wasn't really sure of the quality. Now that you already said it, I'll think twice before I buy these lip products because I kinda dislike lip products that wear off so easily..

    1. Thank You for Reading! I don't see the point in re applying a lip product every 30 minutes. Hope you find the perfect lip product, there are some great ones out there its just hard to find them!
