How I Got Rid Of My Acne/Spot Prone Skin!

I know that quite a lot of people tend to suffer from acne/spot prone skin, so I've decided to tell you all my story!

From about the age of 14 I would always get horrible spots, for the majority of the time they used to be on my chair but as I got older they were starting to appear all over my face. I tried so many different things from over the counter remedies to homemade spot treatments, but NOTHING was working. I bet you all know that frustrating feeling! Not only is it really difficult to cover up but it also knocks your confidence. There were some days when it was so bad that I actually didn't want to leave my house or go to school! I even remember a couple times in my first year of university I would cover my chin area with a thick scarf!! It seems sooo ridiculous now, but at the time I just felt so embarrassed so it had to be done. I believed that it would probably get better once I exited "teenage-hood"....unfortunately I was mistaken! It just kept getting worse, to the point where my dad was even considering paying for laser microderbrasion.

One day I just felt that enough was enough! I couldn't keep going through the same cycle every day and every week. So I did tons of research and finally found a skin routine that was good for me! I do this routine every morning and every night...

Step 1- Cleanser: Garnier Cleansing Micellar Water

I was recommended this product by A and she told me it was a really great product that isn't too harsh on the skin but still creates amazing results. I put some of the water onto a face pad and rub lightly in circular motions all over my face until it's completely clean (at night I make extra sure that I don't leave even one bit of make-up on).

Step 2- Toner: Lush Tea Tree Toner Water

Once my face is clean I spray some of the tea tree toner water all over my face and wait for it to dry.

Step 3- Moisturise: L'Oreal Triple Active Anti-Shine Hydrating Moisturiser

I researched and found that quite a lot of the time, one of the reasons you can suffer with spotty skin is because the moisturiser you are using is clogging your pores. So I found this moisturiser which is non-comodegenic...meaning it won't clog your pores! After my face has dried from the toner water I rub this moisturiser into my skin in circular motions. However, I don't use this cream in the morning because I found that it makes my make-up look a bit weird lol.

Step 4- Supplements: Zinc

This is the most important part of my skin care routine because I've found from experience that if I don't take this for even just one night, the next morning I will 100% wake up with a spot. It's been scientifically proven that people with acne actually have lower levels of zinc in their system than people who have clear skin!  So I take just one a day (I take mine at night) and the zinc really helps keep spots at bay.

I'm well aware that maybe this routine may not work for everyone because each individual has different skin. But, just keep trying to find that perfect routine for you and trust me you will never look back!
